Meet visualfabriq’s new Head of Artificial Intelligence

Visualfabriq welcomes Christian de Heij

As the world’s only revenue management solution with applied AI, continually keeping abreast of the latest developments is critical to our mission of helping CPG companies to become future-fit. In line with this year’s phenomenal growth, we have created a new role for a Head of AI on our team and we’re delighted to announce the appointment of Christian de Heij.

Christian has joined us from the Global Strategy & Operations team of our client, Unilever. As a business analyst specialising in supply chain, he oversaw the implementation of visualfabriq’s trade promotion solution, and so has had a client perspective of our platform.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity for me to have a change after working for a major corporation for seven years, and be part of a rapidly scaling up company which is at the forefront of the latest, leading tech,” he says.

Christian graduated from Rotterdam University with a Bachelor of Science degree with majors in Logistics and Economics. He started out his career at Albert Heijn. After fourteen years with the Dutch supermarket giant, Christian ran his own tech company providing IT services before he joined Unilever.

visualfabriq’s Co-founder and Chief of Product Strategy Carst Vaartjes has welcomed Christian to the development team. “Applied AI is one of the main differentiators of our offering, and as the new Head of AI, Christian will be responsible for optimising our first-to-market AI advantage,” says Carst. “AI is dynamically evolving, and we aim to ensure that visualfabriq remains at the forefront so that our clients fully benefit from new and relevant technologies, applications and innovations.”

Christian will work closely with visualfabriq’s global clients to support their use of our AI capabilities, from loading data to outputting data for AI functions such as baseline predictions, trade promotion predictions, trade promotion optimization predictions, pricing elasticity and the marketing mix. He hit the ground running as part of the visualfabriq delegation to the World Summit AI held in Amsterdam in early October which featured the world’s leading AI specialists and creators, users and thinkers.

“It was fascinating to get new insights into how AI is being applied by others,” Christian says. “When it comes to using AI to solve business challenges, it was exciting to realise is that visualfabriq is completely unique in having AI applied in several places in our platform.”

When he takes a break from screen time, Christian is most likely to be found in his kitchen. He has a passion for cooking traditional Dutch foods for family and friends.
